The Sharp’s group of companies is a strong believer in supporting the local community in all shapes and forms, as the community, by and large, governs the success of our organisation. The community as a whole supplies us with our employees, products and infrastructure to keep the organization successfully ticking along. So it goes without saying that if the community strong and healthy then business will be likewise. Listed below are several major endeavors that we actively support: North Mackay “Saints” AFL Football Club
Northern Suburbs Rugby League Club
We are proud to be the major sponsor of Norths Under 18's Rugby League team. Norths are a foundation club of the Mackay & District Rugby League and have a history of success that is unmatched in producing premierships in this grade. Norths were the premiers in the Under 18's in 2008 and runners-up in 2009. Having attended the Grand Final and witnessing the spirit and sportsmanship in which it was played we are very proud to continue our association with this team into the future.
Blaze Webster plays 5/8 for the team and looks to get a kick away from the half-way.
Sharps Sprintcar Team Rebels Softball Club
The ladies from Rebels softball club recently held their end-of-season presentation night. It was an enjoyable affair with trophies given to those who excelled throughout the year and also to those who put in special efforts at different times. All players received a gift and this was well received by all. The ladies have been playing together for many years and are now represented by two generations of players as mothers and now daughters are graduating to play with this proud friend and family oriented club. Special thanks to the girls for allowing us to continue our association with Rebels Softball Club which has been on-going now for 7 years. Habana Progress Association Mackay/Sarina Clay Target Club

Footy Tipping Competition
Sharps recently held our annual presentation night for the winners, losers and everything in-between when it comes to tipping in our NRL and AFL competitions. Winners this year included Ma Sharp in the AFL and Graham Sharp in the NRL. Our usual "tipping king" Rick Ries still figured with a third in the AFL while our tipping specialist aptly named "the tipster" secured a third place in the NRL. Runner-up in each of the comps included Heidi Power in the NRL and Graham "Sharpy" Sharp who aside from picking up first place in the NRL also took out second place in the AFL.
It was definately a case of "winners are grinners" as prizes were claimed for the tipping competition.
River to Reef Festival
Our entry of a raft for the third successive year in the annual "Boat Ramp to Bridge" raft race proved to once again be an entertaining experience. With a wide variety of ammunition aboard rafts across the whole fleet including items such as rotten fruit & veges, eggs and other unidentified sticky substances it was left to the Sharps crew to come up with something a little different. The suprise was evident across the face of our opposition when we started to launch our stack of wetted down cow manure across the bow to unsuspecting victims. It is however back to the planning board for next year to consider a new and improved design after finishing a credible but very satisified 6th (out of 8).
"Prepare to Lauch" as we venture down the mouth of the great Pioneer River.
Legends of League
Sharps recently had the pleasure of being a sleeve sponsor for Mackay's first "Legends of League" game featuring the Indignenous Legends Vs Australian All-Stars. During our round of golf we were teamed with former Roosters and Bulldog fullback Rod "Rocket" Silva. The fleet footed fullback proved to be not so graceful on the golf course though he did match it with the performance of the Sharps team on the day. The league game on Saturday night was enjoyable to watch and witness some of the greats of yesteryear show that, although a bit slower in the legs, they still had the skill and ability that made them State of Origin and Australian stars.
